Vault is Repaired

Well, not a lot exciting to report this week. 2 of the 3 tubs are sitting in place. The rest of the windows are in. The garage doors and external doors are all in. Some of the plumbing is in. But, we decided to upgrade to Pex plumbing, and they placed PVC instead. So, that will have to be swapped out. Also, the stairs to the basement are in.

2 garage doors and the front door all visible

The truss issue has now been corrected

Lots of important documentation on the sliding glass door

This will be where the exhaust vent will vent out through

It's pretty cool to see the front door installed, as well as the windows

Some of the drains are in place

In Geometry we Trussed!

So, I will admit that it takes a lot to impress me. I was thrilled to get a lovely email from Steve from Wayne Homes on Saturday night about our concerns and addressing them thoroughly. I was just about floored that in just 3 days we already have a fix lined up for our trusses that is signed off by the engineer.

Lastly, it is exciting to hear that all of the other work can continue as planned since the trusses will be repaired in place. So plumbing and HVAC are next on the list.

All trussed up

So of course after the photo that Steve from Wayne Homes sent us we couldn't wait to get to see the house progress this weekend. We got to walk around the second floor and check out the roof in person. We were a little perplexed at the living room ceiling. We have planned (and paid for) a vaulted living room ceiling. Soooo, long story short we got in touch with Steve who assured us that we were correct, and the roof trusses were the wrong ones for over the living room. This came down to approximately 13 trusses.
We have tar paper and ice guard on the roof

The tub surrounds have arrived

The temporary construction stairs. Easy to climb, sketchy to descend.

The WRONG trusses.

The 2 story foyer. The front door will be in the bottom open area with a plant ledge at the window.

The second story framing--very nervewracking trying to make sure that the 3 year old doesn't topple through a window opening.

Also of concern is the dampness along this foundation wall. Steve from Wayne Homes is aware and we will be monitoring for it to dry out--- and stay dry.

Less damp over here, but still worth mentioning

House on the Lot

I've been thinking that anyone out there checking out this blog may wonder how the house is setting on the property. So here's the layout.  We had a variance meeting a few months back to change the build line so that the walkout basement would work the best, as well as maximize the backyard. We had looked at many many pieces of property prior to finding and purchasing this one. We had one bid go through just to find out that the hook up cost would have been prohibitive. We had another lot go to a higher bidder. It was a several month search. Initially we were looking for a much larger amount of land, but we feel that the mature trees and layout should suit us just fine.

Raise the roof!!

So today Steve our project manager from Wayne Homes sent us an email with a photo attached. Most of the roof is up and it really looks like a house. It is so super exciting!!

Lemme tell you a (second) story

View from the eventual driveway

You can see the outside wall of the second story from the inside of the living room

There are already 3 doors on-site. Now we have the big living room window and the 2 sliding glass doors

View from the back. We're really glad that we added the few extra window that we did so far. Also, more of the back door roof is now in place.

Here is most, if not all, of the wood for the back deck. It has made it around to the correct side of the house at least.

Me and my boy sitting on the front stoop. On my left hand side is the fancy stair to get onto the front patio.

Here is the best view I could shoot of the second floor framing. I was dieing to climb up there and look around. But decided to err on the side of caution.

View from the right.

So we were super excited to see all of the progress on the second floor this week. Since the weather was supposed to be really bad we lucked out with decent weather and an almost entire second floor completed. It's really starting to look like a house.

And it's official (well, sort of)

We got home from the site today and what did we find in our mailbox.....................

Official Completion Document

So, you can call me a skeptic, but I surely have my doubts about move in happening anytime in August. Maybe just this once Wayne Homes will surprise me. Only time will tell...............
